Britannia High: 'Watch This Space'
Britannia High, in case you've missed it, is ITV1's attempt to do High School Musical. The talent involved is impressive - Arlene Phillips is in charge of choreography, Gary Barlow serves as "chief songwriter" and Jonathan Harvey has a hand in the scripts - but the end product has somehow wound up ropier than the Pirates of the Caribbean prop cupboard.

Like most of the songs on the soundtrack, 'Watch This Space' falls somewhere between tolerable and terrible. It's an almost-catchy dance-pop tune that keeps threatening to break into 'Flashdance', on which the show's two female leads - one nice, one a bit of a cow - belt out lines like "There is no shortcut to a dream." A decent remix, one that's loud enough to drown out the showbiz platitudes, could save it.
