The Saturdays: 'Issues'

'Issues', the third single from the group's debut LP Chasing Lights, sees the girls slow down the pace as they warble their way through a song about tumultuous relationship "issues". Having traded the word "slap" for an altogether tamer "leave" in the killer line "Don't know if I should slap you or kiss you", this song loses a bit of its edge and runs dangerously close to sounding like a bog standard girl-band ballad. It's a pleasant enough offering at this time of year, but it lacks the distinctive appeal of the group's previous singles.

I agree with this review in a sense, although the song has grown on me considerably. It's downside is the fact that there are so many potential singles on the album and Issues was probably one of the least obvious. The fact it is number 4 and the album is climbing is a good indicator for the next single - Work - which is in the ilk of Up and, I think, could be a potential number one...

Think the lyric change was the only way they could go in order to get this out as a single. Imagine the outcry from the usual suspects if a sugary boy band started singing about slapping girls.

Love this song and agree with the reviewer that changing the word is a bad move, if only because its what we heard first and so sounds odd to the ear. There are stronger songs on the album but they have to demonstrate warbling abilities so it is a good song for that. Seen them live with Girls Aloud and they were really good, heard them on Live Lounge on Radio 1 and they were amazing! They'll go all the way.

Great song, poor review. The worst bit about having the album version is the word slap: rubbish lyric, it sounds crap - whereas leave only improves it as one of the best ballads of this ilk that we've seen since SClub7 days.

Nice enough song. But have to say that "Up" was one of my fave songs of 08. I just hope they are selling enough singles and albums to get a second album deal as I think they're a great group!

I still love it. Can't stand Girls Aloud, they sound awful live, seen the Saturdays live and they are amazing. I'd recommend the acoustic version of this track too.

Crap. They can't sing live. No way will they replace Girls Aloud. Their album flopped as well. Hopefully they can go away in the new year and never come back after this flops as well.

Saw them perform on the National Lottery this week. One of the songs was live and proved that the studio does an awful of lot tweaking to their voices. Comparing them to Girls Aloud is like comparing Rihanna to Whitney Houston. They may be successful, but they don't have half the talent or class.

The song is ok, but I just do not think it is up to the high standards of "If this aint love" and "Up"

This is the worst, most depressing song I have ever had to listen to.I'm ashamed to live in a country when this is recommended as "fresh pop" - ITS TERRIBLE AND WILL MAKE YOU SLIT YOUR WRISTS
