Lady GaGa ft. Colby O'Donis: 'Just Dance'

Mix Gwen Stefani's ghetto fabulousness with a rather more limited version of Christina Aguilera's voice, sprinkle in a bit of Madonna's blonde ambition and then let it marinate in a generous helping of Andy Warhol. To finish, garnish with the fashion sense of a trendy New York drag queen. What have you got? Well, something approaching striking new pop sensation Lady GaGa.

'Just Dance', her debut single, has already been a smash in the US and Australia - and it's not hard to see why. It's a booming fusion of electropop and R&B that practically jumps out of the speakers and strong-arms you into shimmying round the office/your bedroom/Boots' deodorant aisle. The lyrics, says GaGa, are all about "dancing through the intoxication", which is strangely perfect really. Well, who could even think about calling it a night when this comes on?
