Katy Perry: 'Thinking Of You'

Launching herself onto the world stage last year with the catchy-cum-controversial 'I Kissed A Girl', Katy Perry quickly became a media darling. Though she's since scored another smash with 'Hot N Cold', and bagged the International Female gong at the Brit Awards last month, she's probably as famous for her loose tongue and wacky dress sense as she is for her music.

Which is presumably why she's now releasing 'Thinking Of You', a more serious offering designed to show off her vocal and songwriting talents. It's a soft rock ballad pitched somewhere between Alanis Morissette and Evanescence, with angsty lyrics about thinking of one guy while kissing another. There's nothing in the way of novelty value here, making it a bigger challenge for Perry to pull off. So does she succeed? Well, certainly not for want of trying.

Such a depressing song. Katy Perry is so untaleted or is it just me? Live she sings like a screaming cat. And yet won a brit award!! Awful if ya asked me...

I don't see why people see a MEANINGFUL song as boring and depressing. I swear if some garbage artist released this and it was some cheesey dance tune with the same lyrics people would be lapping it up. She wrote the song herself, wrote the music herself (well acoustically anyway), and sings it brilliantly live. People need to stop being so judgemental.

some of the comments are soo funny but true at the same time: truly diabolical! the song is trash! hot and cold is the only song worth mentioning where katys concerned. I really dont like this song, still like her though and shes really pretty!

It's amazing! I don't know why 1-stars are being given out; maybe it's because someone known for their funkyness has tried a serious song. When it's actually LISTENED to it's a fantastic song. Just because it's not Hot n' Cold doesn't mean it's not another big-hitter.
