Daniel Merriweather ft. Wale: 'Change'
Daniel Merriweather has been bubbling under for a while. He was releasing singles in his native Australia as long ago as 2004, sang on Mark Ronson's cover of 'Stop Me' back in 2007, and guested on Wiley's 'Cash In My Pocket' last year. Now, having bagged a deal with Columbia Records, he's finally getting round to releasing his debut solo album.

Lead single 'Change' is a typically snazzy Ronson production - there are horns and lightly funky beats as you'd expect, and a cameo from rapper Wale as perhaps you wouldn't. It's sure to sound good on daytime radio, and Merriweather can certainly hold a note, but there isn't really anything here to get properly excited about. To be honest, this is probably what a Ronson/The Script hook-up would sound like.

This is a great song. Daniel has a fantastic voice, like a young Stevie Wonder, and the Ronson signature sound fits him like a glove. Definitely buying this!

There is something haunting about this track, it reminds me a bit of 2Pac's "Changes" ... except the melody isnt as gripping Anyway, released at the right time (early-mid February) it should hit the top 3 with ease, supported by a good first week fuel of itunes downloads ... possibly even a contender for number one.

Looks like Daniel Merriweather has a nice sensible coat with a hood to keep him warm.
