Tommy Reilly: 'Gimme A Call'
Tommy Reilly is so new to the music world that if you look him up on Wikipedia you'll be greeted by an entry about a deceased Canadian harmonica player of the same name. This Tommy Reilly, however, is a young Scotsman who can strum a guitar, bash a keyboard and sing with an affected Glaswegian accent. Most importantly, he comes with the stamp of approval of Orange unsignedAct judges Lauren Laverne, Alex James and goatee bearded label boss Simon Gavin.

Hoping to succeed where last year's victors Envy And Other Sins failed, Reilly's debut single is a fairly unremarkable acoustic strummer - not a million miles away from cockney trendy Jamie T. His eccentric vocal style is sure to split opinion, while the lack of a major chorus or radio-friendly hook makes it a brave pick for first single. It's hard not to be impressed by the sprawled, passionate crescendo, but even when Reilly's at his most wild on the mic, he's still lacking that element of danger, edginess or a killer tune that could lift him beyond his reality show fame.
