Noisettes: 'Don't Upset The Rhythm'

Noisettes emerged from the east London live scene a few years ago with significantly more flair and originality than most of their contemporaries. Each single from debut album What's The Time Mr Wolf? offered a fabulous new synthesis of noughties indie-pop guitars, funky rhythms and singer Shingai Shoniwa's jazzy vocals.

'Don't Upset The Rhythm', the lead single from follow-up Wild Young Hearts, is currently being used to flog Mazda cars, but don't hold that against it. Their most instant tune to date, at its core is the same disco stomp that runs through everything from vintage Bee Gees to Lady GaGa. Complete with wonderfully daft rhymes (vice/compromise, floor/waiting for), it sounds like an organic, new wave take on Blackout/Circus-era Britney with a healthy thwack of Franz Ferdinand in the mix. A genuinely thrilling step forward.
