Lady Sovereign: 'So Human'

Showing typical pluckiness, Sovereign has channelled these experiences into 'So Human', the first single on her own Midget Records label. Built around a clever sample from The Cure's 'Close To Me', it's a perky urban pop tune about having bad days and not beating yourself up about it. Sovereign remains as straight-talking and listenable as ever - "I need a bag of green to make this go away," she raps at one point - making this a welcome reminder of her talents.

I think Sov is still amazing. Her new song so Human is a killer and she'll always be my idol. Her album jigsaw is a perfect way of expressing how she feels about what has been happeneing to her. She is a talented rapper/mc/singer all in one. Its hard to believe all of this is packed into a tiny 5'1 lady. Well you know what they say: the best things come in small packages. Love U lady SOVEREIGN!!!!!!!!!

I really like this song. It's upbeat and it's catchy. Sampling a song as good as "Close to Me" was risky, but the risk payed off. The music sounds great in this song. As for it being unoriginal, Flo Rida just got to number 1 with a sampled song that wasn't even half as good as this, so originality is relative.

4/5? Are you kidding? She wrecks an amazing Cure song here. It's terrible and not even original...
