James Morrison: 'Please Don't Stop The Rain'

'Please Don't Stop The Rain' begins with a Coldplay-esque piano riff and an anaemic melody that improves little by the time it reaches the chorus. You're forced to look to the lyrics for a reason to keep listening, but the earnestness of each clumsy metaphor quickly tries the patience ("I can see the skies are changing, no longer shades of blue"). Morrison's pleasingly gruff tones deserve some decent writing to tease them out, but sadly this isn't up to the job.

Oh my god.. are you serious about this review? "unfortunately the music itself is quite unmemorable" me and lots of people I know really love this song. It is brilliant. 5 stars.

Its a really good song and you give it 2 stars out of 5? the music reviewer clearly needs the sack!

It's puzzling why James and his record company decided it would be a good idea to release this. It's a horrifically bland song - although typically catchy as with all his tracks. He has an excellent album full of better songs he could have released, no idea why they chose this one.

BORING! I loved Broken Strings. But this song is such a huge step down for Mr. Morrison

Another great song from James Morrison. Don't think this site have ever given him a decent review, they only gave Broken Strings 3 stars.

I disagree. Not one of the strongest songs on an album that you gave a similarly bad review but I think it's got something and will at least break into the top twenty. Not as good as Broken Strings. Or You Make It Real. Or You Give Me Something. Or Wonderful World

Seriously, you suck. James Morrison's lyrics never lack emotion and all his songs are brilliant. Its puzzling how you can give this song a bad review and yet you praise songs such as 'Thats not my name' by the Ting Tings :S
