Ironik: 'Tiny Dancer (Hold Me Closer)'

What do Tupac, Kanye West and now Ironik have in common? Apart from the obvious hip-hop connection, each is among the privileged few to have cleared a sample from the Elton John back catalogue. Following on from his top five success with 'Stay With Me' last year, the 21-year-old Londoner is now hoping that the legendary star's nod of approval will see him return to the upper reaches of the charts.

'Tiny Dancer (Hold Me Closer)' follows Ironik's previous formula of borrowing heavily from someone else's material and, if truth be told, not doing a whole lot with it. With a token bit of inoffensive and relatively meaningless rapping over the chorus of 'Tiny Dancer', this latest offering fails to show much flare and originality, making it hard to ascertain who Ironik really is as an artist. In fairness though, he should ensure that this 1970s classic gets exposed to a new generation - something that Elton himself would struggle to do.
