Pixie Lott: 'Mama Do'

If a record label were to grow a perfect popstar in a laboratory, Pixie Lott might well be the result. She's blonde, pretty, self-assured beyond her years (all 18 of them), a nifty little mover and if she were in a girl group, she'd be the one who could really sing. Great name too.

'Mama Do', her debut single, is a soulful slice of retro-pop that lands somewhere between the realms of Duffy and Natasha Bedingfield. Lott makes a good first impression, wrapping her impressive pipes around a tale of teen romance conducted behind her parents' backs. This radio-friendly nugget is sure to do its job, but there's fresher, more interesting stuff on her upcoming album.
