Agnes: 'Release Me'
Got room for another Scando-pop diva in your life? If so, allow us to introduce Agnes Carlsson, a 21-year-old former Swedish Idol champion who's already notched up a trio of platinum albums in her homeland. Her USP? A set of pipes that place her closer to Leona than Kylie in the belting stakes.

'Release Me', her UK debut single, is a far classier Europop banger than September and Velvet have been dishing up recently - the all-conquering chorus and thumping beats are present and correct, but this has lashings of strings and lavish production flourishes too. Call it a Waitrose organic pork and apple to their Tesco Value jobbies.

Bobby and Tom are clearly "trolls". This woman can sing and she wouldn´t have won swedish Idol if she couldn´t sing. Check her sing live here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-NiN-OFSZc

I have been following this song since it was released in Sweden and was over the moon that it was getting a UK release. Even better is that it has done so damn well on downloads alone. Now that it gets a physical release lets hope she gets to the top. The Swedes know what they are doing when it comes to pop and sooner this country realises that the better! This is a start!

its good and catchy with a woman who proves she can actully hold a tune. It's very addicitive but is also a dull after a few listens. it deserves a top 5 placing though.

this is a cracking track! Very popular in the world of Modern Jive! And her Album is very impressive too! Not sure she's better than September but certainly a bright new star!

Fantastic voice and a fantastic single from a fantastic album - finally getting a release in the far behind as always UK market. Agnes is the best new artist in a long time. Other tracks to watch out for are On And On, Love Love Love (outrageously not chosen to represent Sweden at Eurovision this year), How Do You Know and the fantastic Look At Me Now. Also a wonderful ballad in there called Sometimes I Forget. Great to see an artist free of the Pop Idol shackles and making great music - if only Leona could now develop into an artist with personality and input into her music as Agnes that is worthy of her talent.

I love her, she's got such good songs and a really good voice and does sound a lot like Leona but they are two complete different styles and people, i've gotta say I don't agree with Simon's comment about Leona and millions of other people would agree with me.

@ Ian, that made me chuckle! Anyhoo, onto the song. LOVE IT! If Leona made records like this, she'd be a WHOLE lot more interesting!!

An absolutely awesome track, especially the Cahill Club Mix. The charts are in dire need of some classy pop. A real gem in a sea of r&b turds.
