Ladyhawke: 'Back Of The Van'

Like the Queen of Pop in her early days, Ladyhawke combines the '80s pop-rock sound with the sort of lyrics and delivery that absorb the obvious pop clichés but somehow manage to transcend them all the same. And, despite all the obvious Fleetwood Mac and Cyndi Lauper comparisons, the keyboards that open 'Back Of The Van' and pulse throughout it are eerily reminiscent of the synth riff from Van Halen's 1984 hit 'Jump'. That, of course, can be only be a good thing.

I need to see Ladyhawke get the recognition she deserves. The album is amazing and My Delerium is the hit that never was. The fact it has been in iTunes top 100 for about 5 months is testament that people didn't catch it when it was first out, which is a shame. This song is equally great - but then she could choose any track and I'll love it!

Along with Magic, My Delirium and Dusk til Dawn... one of the best tracks on the album!

Haven't heard a love song which recreates that 'just falling' stomach-flip sensation so well in...like, forever!
