Carolina Liar: 'Show Me What I'm Looking For'

Remember that song you heard during a emotional climax in Gossip Girl/90210/Greek/One Tree Hill but couldn't put a name to? Well, it's more than likely that Carolina Liar are responsible. Led by a chap called Chad Wolf, they make earnest pop-rock heartstring-tuggers that are the perfect accompaniment to schmaltzy US highschool shows.

Built around a massive chorus that begins about five seconds in, 'Show Me What I'm Looking For' is as radio-friendly as they come. With plenty of Fray-style lifeless lyrics ("Don't let go, I've wanted this far too long"), hammy crescendos and pleasant, placid vocals from Mr Wolf, this is rock music for anyone who finds Snow Patrol a bit too giddy sometimes. Production supremo Max Martin (Pink, Britney) gives the track plenty of spit and polish, but it's hard to see why he's vasting his valuable time with this drab lot.
