Vagabond: 'Sweat (Until The Morning)'
The title makes this sound like a filthy R&B track that Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera might collaborate on, but sadly 'Sweat (Until The Morning)' is nowhere near as interesting as that. Cheesy white-boy soul revivalists Vagabond - basically a 2009 incarnation of Toploader - have done the unthinkable and channelled the spirit of Mick Hucknall to create a schmoozing wine bar soundtrack that will have you scrambling for the sick bag.

Admittedly, curly-haired frontman Alex Vargas has an impressive set of pipes, but on this corny nonsense ("I have longed to be your lover, and you know it") his husky croon is about as appetising as a plate of maggots. Lacquered with the sort of Magic Radio sheen not heard since the Lighthouse Family hung up their easy listening boots, it's hard to believe this was produced by Girls Aloud hitmakers Xenomania. If you're craving a modern-day Wet Wet Wet and have been in tears since Simply Red split, this may be the answer. But for everyone else, our advice is to steer well clear.

I couldn't agree less with your reviewer. This is a really great track but the remixes are better. I saw them supporting James Morrison at Canterbury and they really rocked the place. They have some really good songs in their act and their musicianship is first class. They WILL be huge!

SPOT. ON. I saw these guys live supporting James Morrison a few months back. They COULD be a brilliant band - as you say, their frontman has an impressive voice and I think they have a good look. However, if they want to live up to that they need to be able to write a good song. And that is something which, it appears, they cannot do.

What!! Only 2 stars - this single is excellent. It is catchy and the vocals are very enjoyable to listen to. Much recommended!
