Freemasons ft. Sophie Ellis-Bextor: 'Heartbreak (Make Me A Dancer)'
Since scoring a 2005 hit with 'Love On My Mind', a disco tune that fused Jackie Moore's 'This Time Baby' with Tina Turner's 'When The Heartache Is Over', Brighton duo Russell Small and James Wiltshire have gone on to become the remixers of choice for Kelly Rowland, Beyoncé and Solange. They might have proved they have the skills to turn midtempo R&B numbers into outright clubland anthems, but it's on their own productions that they really show their raison d'etre.

Teaming up with Sophie Ellis-Bextor, a natural pairing that judging by this offering should have happened years earlier, 'Heartbreak (Make Me A Dancer)' is an irresistible dance-pop stomper of epic proportions. Instantly grabbing you with its throbbing beats and quivering synths, Ellis-Bextor's distinctive vocals sound both mournful and strangely exultant as she begs: "Love stop getting me down, down, down." It's camp, it's summery, it's hideously infectious and with a little bit of luck could become Freemasons' biggest hit to date.

Very, very Freemasons and very, very SEB. Not necessarily a bad thing but it's a pretty predictable effort. Will probs grow on me a bit more because I do like it, can't help but feel they've played it rather safe though

Best song to date from Freemasons. Sophies voice is perfectly suited to this and I hope this song gets the recognition it deserves, and it deserves to be massive! The hottest song of the year, number 1!

I don't really think it deserved five stars.. Maybe three and a half. I'd say it will grow on me though

I love this!! Awesome song and video!! Good to see Sophie back with us sounding and looking gorgeous!! A true English Rose!! Love the freemasons too! So this song is my hit of the year!! Those dicks at Radio 1 haven't playlisted this yet? Why? It's 100 times better than some of the rubbish they play!!

I am hopelessly in love with this song. Sophie's voice sounds all at once uplifting and also full of sorrow. It's beautiful. The buzz around this track reminds me of when Kylie released "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" in 2001. I think it will define Sophie's music career more than anything that's gone before, and it will, in years to come, be considered "the" anthemic sound of Summer 2009. Ooo, I love it.
