Basement Jaxx: 'Raindrops'
A permanent fixture on the dance circuit during the late nineties and early noughties, Basement Jaxx managed to build a healthy popular following by neatly uniting indie boys, pop fans and ravers with classic bangers like 'Red Alert' and 'Where's Your Head At?'. Three years since their last album, can the Brighton duo regain their mass appeal? Well, they've certainly given it a good shot.

As warm and uplifting as a summer breeze flurrying under your skirt, 'Raindrops' marks a welcome, if slightly cautious, return from Messrs. Buxton and Ratcliffe. Combining classic Jaxx beats, brooding bass and a euphoric vocal, it's easy to be drawn in by 'Raindrops's arms-in-the-air charm. Whether it has enough clout to sustain life outside of the Ibiza bubble remains to be seen, but it's still a welcome taste of what their upcoming album Scars has to offer.
