Chipmunk: 'Diamond Rings'
"Once his A-level exams are out of the way in June expect to hear a lot more from Chipmunk," says an anonymous record label worker on the Tottenham rapper's MySpace page. It may not be particularly rock 'n' roll, but it's a neat reminder that the latest artist to emerge from London's flourishing grime/urban scene is only just old enough to buy himself a beer in a pub. For an artist who's already cracked the top ten (with a bit of help from DJ Ironik and Elton John), he's still a relatively fresh-faced pup of a popstar.

His latest single 'Diamond Rings' shows no signs of youthful naivety, however, boasting just as much pop polish as recent offerings from N-Dubz and Tinchy Stryder. His bragging raps ("Girls see me and scream cause I'm on the TV") may be lacking in originality, but the track's breezy, ska-infused shuffle and feisty female backing vocals are infectious enough to suggest Chipmunk may have a future in the music industry. Now all he has to do is finish his BA degree and we might just get a full album.

it's alright but the girl in it sounds so spolit and makes me cringe.. this is certainly not chart-worthy or anything... pretty average imo. & for the record, chip diddy chip was pretty crap & tbh, this ain't really much better..

Love this - he's pretty adorable, and Emeli's chorus's have a great hook, plus the video is great with a slick look and humour.

This song isn't awful but isn't great either. It gets boring and annoying after just 1 listen.

This is a really bad song and I don't think he can sing at all. It won't be a top 20 hit well it don't deserve to be imo.

C.R.A.P. he should get over himself. He's like the British Soulja Boy which's bad

it's defiantly better than chippy diddy chip and it's quite catchy to so i guess that 3 stars is a good amount for it.
