JLS: 'Beat Again'

Credit where its due, JLS have at least broken with X Factor convention on their debut single. Rather than releasing a tacky covers record off the back of the show, or waiting a year so they can sponge sales off a return live performance on ITV1, they've got their heads down and come back with an original tune just seven months after they finished second on the nation's biggest singing contest. Perhaps more importantly, they've managed to avoid being moulded into Westlife/Boyzone clones by the mucky hands of mentor Louis Walsh, choosing instead to forge their own contemporary R&B sound.

In fact, 'Beat Again' sounds like something Ne-Yo could have slipped onto his recent Year Of The Gentleman album. The lyrics about "love CPR" are cheesier than a Jennifer Aniston rom-com and the beats and squelches may not be particularly original, but it's still considerably more exciting than 99% of X Factor-affiliated singles. Alexandra Burke best have something good up her sleeve because her old rivals have laid down a fairly decent gauntlet here.

I really adore this song, as much as I adore JLS themself. They are judged so easily these days as people call them all kinds of names because of how other boybands have come across they have branded JLS as the same and they expect the same from them so no-one has ever really given JLS a fair chance to prove themselves worthy of a record contract. In my opinion they are terribley misjudged. This is a great song that went to number one as soon as it was released, as did Everybody Inlove. I truly believe JLS will stick around for a while and continue giving us some more chart topping hits and I hope all the best for them. Ofcourse this doesn't tickle everyones fancy's but you can not call them bad because of that. I do not like heavy metal music but I wouldn't say it was bad because it just isn't my taste, it's not bad music to the people it applys to. I honestly love JLS.

I am a big fan of black eyed peas.However on this occasion,I feel their number is quite ordinary and does not deserve to be no 1. JLS,on the other hand have come up with a very catchy and sensational debut no and I have no doubt they will be top of the charts soon.Well done JLS!!!

It's a good catchy song, but does definitely not deserve to go to number 1. But recently with Cascada, Tinchy Stryder and Black Eyed Peas topping the charts, it doesn't surprise me one bit.
