Kasabian: 'Where Did All The Love Go?'

Kasabian are definitely not just another post-Stone Roses/Oasis/Primal Scream laddish indie band with added aggression. They've told us so - time and again dammit - and apparently that should be enough. That's despite their first two records and live shows bringing to mind, well, a bass-heavy mix of the aforementioned groups. To be fair though, like its beatsy predecessor 'Fire', this single sounds less like those 80s/90s bands and rather more like the first generation lot who inspired them.

The choruses recall The Beatles and Stones feeling their way towards psychedelia, while the verses just about survive Tom Meighan's Gallagher/Gillespie vocal inflections and some trite political lyrics ("In this social chaos/ There's violence in the air/ Gotta keep your wits about you/ Be careful not to stare"). Amusingly, given Meighan's recent hissy fit about "deluded" Americans who are musically "30 years behind", this is actually a perfectly competent bit of nostalgic psych-rock.
