Esmée Denters: 'Outta Here'

Lots of girls dream of landing Justin Timberlake as a New Best Friend, but for 20-year-old Dutch singer Esmée Denters that dream became a reality last year when the 'SexyBack' star spotted her homemade music videos on YouTube and promptly offered her a record deal. Since then she's been whisked over to the States, given a wholesome all-American makeover and is now ready to launch herself on the world stage.

'Outta Here', co-written and produced by JT, is very much the typical R&B-tinged pop debut - the sort of thing deployed by the likes of Mandy Moore, Stacie Orrico and Christina Aguilera at the start of their variously successful careers. "I feel so betrayed, what a waste of my heart," Denters wails as she launches into an emotion-packed chorus bemoaning a lying boyfriend. It may show off the powerful pipes that amassed all those millions of YouTube hits, but unfortunately there are no real signs of passion or charisma here.

It's a cool song and she is really talented! It reminds me of Rihanna-Disturbia a little bit.

It's alright song. She just like Jojo. I doubt her longevity just like Jojo but on the upside Esmee is really stunning.

it's a good song, sounds great on first listen, but for me it does get a bit annoying fairly quickly. i don't think it's anything special but still a decent pop song though.

well she hasnt done bad considering she was found by justin timberlake on youtube, when she posted songs of herself singing. she got loads of hits and positive comments then and i think the song is pretty good its pop and most people these days think pop is cheesy

I agree with DB.. im just not feelin it.. her voice doesnt sound that spectular, sounds more like a lighter version of jojo(though jojo is younger and has a bigger range) plus the song is NOTHING new...it sounds too ''average''...

Oh my, this review is rubbish. I think it is a great song and probably a top ten hit. It does not deserves this low rating, David Balls. Within a year this Esmee will be world famous, mark my words.

Radio friendly song but nothing spectacular - nice enough song though...

Completely disagree i think this is a great debut from her and "no real signs of passion" what are you on about and i think potentially a top ten hit.

Perhaps she hasn't got bags of passion or charisma but she's just new to the whole music scene. Great song, great voice.....

I'm a bit bemused as to how you can give the recent Freemasons song 5/5 and this 2/5. I'm not saying Outta Here is brilliant, because it's not, but it's still a decent enough pop tune worthy of far more than 2 stars.

I completely disagree with your review - this is an absolutely fantastic pop tune! I adore Esmee Denters!
