Swift's own track chugs along in much the same power-pop style as Avril Lavigne way back when, with just a hint of her country roots in the verses. She sports Dennis Taylor specs in the video as if to prove her obvious unlovability as she sings lines like: "She wears short skirts/ I wear T-shirts/ She's cheer captain/ And I'm on the bleachers." These emotions are universal enough, but Swift expresses them in such a workaday manner that it's hard to empathise with her. The result is a well-constructed track that doesn't leave much of an impression after it finishes playing.

Wow. What's with everyone joining the Taylor hate band wagon. I love this song!! Some of these comments are just insulting and people .need to grow up. It is just a song. I don't think she cares what you saddos think. She's a 9 time Grammy nominated singer/songwriter who is one of the best selling singers of the decade and a millionaire!
Been there done that! How many times are these so called pop acts gonna churn out the same rubbish! Please change or better still Taylor join the friggin circus!
I love this song. Why just two stars??? It's a song almost every girl can relate to and I love Taylor Swifts music. You give appaling songs more stars than this, shame on you!

Wow! DS is so wrong! This is her best song yet and the video is a-mazing (Kanye's a prick)! This song DOES leave an impression on you, it's just fab.
Its about time Country Music made a serious impression in this country. I really hope this makes it to #1. People are so blind to this style of music in this country that they still think of Country Music as all 'yee haw' etc!

I suppose this is only the view of one person here and by the looks of the comments below most people disagree with it. i am one of these people. i love this song and completely disagree with the two stars. I would say it is at least four stars and this is coming from a person who doesn't normally listen to Taylor swift but i am glad i gave this song a chance!
Half of these reviews by DS users are biased and ridiculous. This song would not be half as popular as it is without the VMA incident. I think it says a lot about how little the UK care about Taylor Swift if it takes a controversy regarding a star as big as Kanye for this song to get inside the Top 40. Anyway, I agree with you for the most part. It's cutesy, but that's about it.

Ugh, this review is so bland. Do you not have taste in good music anymore? It deserves much more then two lame stars, it should be at least four! This is a brilliant song and Taylor is sending out a message to young girls that it's ok not to be in the "trend".
