"If a record label were to grow a perfect popstar in a laboratory, Pixie Lott might well be the result," we noted when reviewing her debut single - and eventual number one - 'Mama Do'. This wasn't meant sneeringly, and the more we see of the young Essex lass, the more we're convinced by her. She's what our nan calls a "right little cracker".

A right little cracker who's now touting a cracker of a pop single. For 'Boys and Girls' Lott marches her shapely pins to the dancefloor for an unashamedly feelgood party tune. The production cleverly blends the retro and the modern, Lott sounds just as comfortable here as she did on the more subdued 'Mama Do', and the lyrics house a line that's just begging to be repeated/tweeted/made into a T-shirt : "A good beat never hurt no-one." Amen to that!

Pixie Lott, Lily Allen, Adele...they're all from the same mold. Spoiled middle class brats who have taken the mediocre talent they have and inexplicably convinced teenage girls, gay men and 20-30 year old women who still act like adolescents (come on we all know one) that somehow they're a breath of fresh air and should be lauded for it. However for the few of us left who actually have good taste in music avoid this bubblegum, "daddy paid for my studio time" rubbish. Unfortunately record companies these days are too terrified to take risks and simply look to see what's popular and copy it. Lily Allen is to blame for this dirge of young, female singers from posh backgrounds hitting the charts. They're doing nothing original and the "music" they do produce is background music in Topshop at best. Trust me, in 10 years time nobody will remember any of them (but by that point they'll have already made their money from the brain dead, tone deaf sheep who comprise their fanbase and be living on the own private islands). And yes, Boys and Girls does indeed rip off Rihanna and if you honestly can't hear it then you're one of the people I describe above!

You wonder why her songs get to number 1? Because she has all these rich friends which buy the single from itunes, which boost her cause. I admit, these two past songs haven't been great, but Pixie should release "If I Change", the b-side to this single. It really shows her voice, which i didn't appreciate from these two songs before. Good for you Pixie though, as an 18 year old, you dedfinitely are bringing out the hits! Kudos on your second number 1

Terrible song that will most definitely end up reaching No.1 for some incredibly strange reason. Her first song was terrible also. Music 2009 has been deplorable in general. Very few songs have had the right to be No.1 and losing the one man who rightfully was the 'King of Pop' hasn't helped. Just Dance, The Fear, Poker Face, Boom Boom Pow, I Gotta Feeling and Run This Town have been the only decent No.1 songs this year!

Shimmy-shaking, hips-swaying.. proper job. Just right for some mornin' motivational mincin'. (Everyone in the video could do with a wash though. Ah - youth and all its greasy exuberance).

Okay enough with Shut Up and Drive, or you can just Shut Up and (insert cruel word here). First of all this song has plenty of brass, jazzy style arrangements as well as the percussion being far superior. Plus, dare I say it, whether she has better songs or not, she can sing much better live than Rihanna. If you don't think so, watch any live performance of Disturbia, the words cat orgy will come to mind. It's catchy, it's fun, it's a summer song. But I definitely agree with Jasmine. I have no idea why she is popular enough to be number one. Mama Do sucked big time. And this song, although catchy, is just a dried bubblegum mess. I know it seemed like I was in favour of how good the song is to begin with, but people who compare completely different songs bug me. Guys, you have got to be deaf, see a doctor. This girl is the slutty version of Natasha Bedingfield and hopefully she will bring out an I wanna have your babies style song and people will be done with her.

pixie lott is amazing, and so are her songs especially boys and girls, and for all of you people that say she's trying to be like people like little boots, she's been wanting to bring her album out for ages. it doesnt sound anything like rihanna shut up and drive, if anything its better. and i'd love to know how it sounds like it. she is an amazing singer, she has a great voice and is an amazing role model.

Dislike it, I don't get why she's so popular in my opinion.

One thing I cannot stand is rubbish songs getting to #1! In all honesty, I do not see why Pixie Lott is so popular. Mama Do was mediocre but this is not good at all. The whole song screams 'Copycat'. There is no way you can listen to the song and watch the music video without thinking of another song and video. There's no way Pixie is the future of pop music.

This doesn't deserve a #1 position at all as it fails to meet the standards of her previous single. An absolute disappointment and certainly a Rihanna rip-off indeed!

I don't really like to listen to this song. It is catchy but I feel I have heard it before from somebody else. I don't really like to listen to Pixie Lott's voice very much.
