Dizzee Rascal ft. Chrome: 'Holiday'
It may initially have seemed like a "WTF?!" combination, but when original rude boy Dizzee Rascal paired up with slightly nerdy Calvin Harris on 'Dance Wiv Me' last summer, bringing R&B singer Chrome along for the ride, they were rewarded with four weeks at number one. Perhaps unsurprisingly, they've all teamed up again to see if they can repeat the trick, albeit without a vocal contribution from Harris this time.

While 'Dance Wiv Me' trailed a more subtle infusion of rap and dance, 'Holiday' cuts out the foreplay and dives straight into the action. Opening to a barrage of trancey synths, Rascal's rapping seems rather irrelevant by the time Chrome's crowd-pleasing chorus kicks in: "If you ain't doing nothing let's fly away, drive away, get away, we can go to the club or hide away." 'Holiday' may tap into the Ibiza spirit well enough, but you can't help thinking that it's a slightly soulless and utterly blatant attempt to keep the wheels on Dizzee's recent pop crossover.

Just like his other songs, it's utter rubbish. Do the British public really call this "summer music"?

Dizzee's best song yet. Cracking production by best dance producer around (Calvin Harris). What a excellent song for the summer. Also, the end of the song is just INSANE!!!!!

I don't think this will be as big as Dance Wiv Me or Bonkers. I think because the music channels and radio stations have been playing Holiday to death Iam getting bored of it already. I am a fan of Dizzee but this isn't as great as I anticipated it to be.

when i first heard this i thought it was great, but Radio 1 have had it on their A-list for a ludicrous amount of time, it almost seems old by now. still, it's not bad, and Calvin's production is great as usual. the problem i have is that i thought Dance Wiv Me was brilliant - as a one-off - but all this new Dizzee stuff is getting a bit boring now, his earlier music was unique and set him apart from others in his field, but i think he has lost that uniqueness now. that's just my opinion but it's up to the man himself what he wants to do. it will be interesting to hear if the new album continues the trend of the last 3 singles or contains more of the older kind of stuff as well.
