Muse: 'Uprising'
Depending on who you ask, the new Muse single either sounds like "Freddie Mercury performing in space", "Goldfrapp duelling with David Bowie", or "Blondie covering the Doctor Who theme tune". These comparisons may sound faintly ridiculous, but actually they aren't too far off the money. Managing to blend space-rock, a funky guitar strut, sci-fi sound effects and a fist-pumping "oi-oi-oi" chant, Matt Bellamy and co have well and truly gone off the rock Richter scale.

The trio's apocalyptic lyrics and utter disregard for the conventions of modern musical tastes - their new album features a three-part symphony called 'Exogenesis' - are bound to alienate some listeners. But anyone who revelled in the overblown bombast of 2006's Black Holes And Revelations won't leave this track disappointed. Sometimes they overstep the mark, such as on Bellamy's pompous "They will not control us!" refrain, but no other current band can match Muse for sheer, unabashed imagination.

I'm 50 years old. I'm not supposed to like this 'modern noise'. Why can't I get the album off my player?

Ladies and gentlemen is it a Tardis is the doctor no it's Muse. Still a worth entry when you consider the bullshit they are surrounded by in the charts!

Sometimes they overstep the mark, such as on Bellamy's pompous "They will not control us!" - what does this actually mean? amazing song

I've always regarded them as pompus, pretentious and arrogant and wearing their influences on their sleeves, this song changes not alot. 'bang!'. ouch. Oh you missed. Just a flesh wound :)

The next one to describe Muse or Matthew Bellamy as pompus, pretentious, or arrogant has no clue about what Muse is and should be immediately SHOT! Being light years more talented than anyone else does not mean someone is pretentious.

love everything this band do. the new album sounds like it's based on some sort of political apocalypse. bit of a deep and dark concept but these guys aren't afraid to try anything. this song is great, can't help tapping along to it, love all the effects as well. the whole thing sounds superb, hope it becomes a hit.

Absolutely love Muse and absolutely love this track! They out do themselves all the time, agree with the review, no band can match Muse in any sense not just their imagination, never ceases to amaze me as to why their songs don't get higher in the charts. Long may they continue releasing top notch singles and roll on their album CANNOT wait!!
