The Loife's take is no great reinvention, adding a lick of extra pop gloss to the manly balladry of the original. The strings swell like Louis Walsh's bank balance, the chorus is as big and stirring as Goliath's sugar spoon, and the boys deliver every line with their usual note-perfect earnestness. Cynical and predictable? Oh yes, but this is ruthlessly effective too.

i love westlife stop being hobbile to them just because they coped they song it s good song and the one of the longset lasting boy band ever they been together 13 years the same age as me so westlife you rock i love your new album
The thing is: has Westlife ever had a number one, or any song for that matter, that is NOT a cover? I thought not...

To all who have blindly dissed Westlife's rendition of this song: it may be a cover, and it may resemble Daughtry's version in some ways, but if Westlife sings it WELL - just admit it! You dissers sound so pathetic - they only reason you are giving negative feedback is because you feel your idol Daughtry is being 'robbed' *choke* - you aren't being honest about Westlife's singing! Anyone who listens to it objectively will know they sing it wonderfully! Great vocals, great musical backing. Review the SONG and the SINGING, people! And re 'ripping' songs off others - oh, do you mean that NOBODY in this world has EVER taken a song off the original singer? Come on! IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME - songs like Without You, You Raise Me Up, Amazing Grace, Eveything I Own -- and piano pieces from Beethoven and violin pieces from Vivaldi -- the list goes on - these songs are re-sung, re-played and re-recorded again and again by different people! How come THOSE don't get dissed? Sheeesh! America's own Rubin - first American Idol - ALSO TOOK WESTLIFE'S "FLYING WITHOUT WINGS". Anti-Westlife people - give criticism only when it's deserved. if you don't like the songs on the album because they are not to your taste, that's fine, but don't diss them for 'ruining' Daughtry's song just because you are a Daughtry fan. That's just biased critique.

I have the original from Daughtry, and have had for a long time. Westlife are crap and should crawl under a stone. They have ruined a great song. Westlife idiots, please get the original and lets pray that Westlife go away very very soon
Here we go again, a new album from these eejits. Guaranteed to sound the same, guaranteed to be cover versions. What about now, the original from chris daughtry is brilliant i doubt westlife know what being original is. ever since they popped up its been cover after cover money for old rope springs to mind. A word of advice for all the gimps buying this rerecorded muck. If you hear westlife are releasing a new song go and find the original version (i'll bet its there & i'll bet its ten times better). Westlife should do the world a favor & quit this ripping off of good songs & destroying them. Get a grip lads you really aren't that good.
@ michaela, can you not spell or type properly? or is that how westlife fans talk on the internet? because i think i just about understood what you said. I couldn't be more angry at Westlife for covering what is a fantastic song, Daughtry have not been given the chance to succeed over here and i feel they would. Also people are making it seem like its Westlife's song when it blatantly isn't. If you listen to both, they sound EXACTLY the same so Westlife did not even make it their own they just copied it completely.

westlife is just a cover band. they have made it big singing other peoples songs, have they got no talent. they have ruined daughtrys song the original is much better
Really like song when Daughtry sang it but i think westlife version is the same. The different here is Daughtry are a band whereas Westlife seem to be a cover group. Westlife need to start playing instruments. Simon Cowell is a plonker and as for westlife, they should start drawing the pension. Face it lads, ye are well past ye sell by date. If people have any cop on, they should go and buy the first album from Daughtry. I just got their second album Leave This Town and it rocks. Westlife please move aside and let Daughtry take over the throne. Dont get me started on Louis Walsh, he has not got a note in his head.
Another great song from Westlife, I loved this original and I love this version, I don't think there was anything sneaky at all about the cover, it is a wonderful cover and I am really happy to see the guys back and performing again. I have high hopes for album number 7. They've been amazing since day one and ten years later they still are amazing.

Love Daughtry's version better even though I have liked Westlife since day one. Think its a shame when Daughtry are trying to make a name for themselves in the UK with his new song 'Surprise' being played on the music tv stations and Simon Cowell gives this song to Westlife. C'mon Simon let the UK see exactly how good Daughtry is and not an IDOL FLOP like some people see him as.

So, 30 is old now is it Ronan?! ;) Heh heh And only two members of the band are 30, anyway, so maybe you should think about what you say before you say it! And just on the song, I reckon it's brilliant, and the guys have done it really really well! I can't wait for the album if this song is any indication!!!
