Lily Allen: 'Who'd Have Known'

Let's get the controversy out the way at the start. Yes, 'Who'd Have Known' does beg, steal and borrow its chorus from a popular recent Take That hit, an aberration Lily Allen admitted when she first uploaded it to her MySpace page back in July 2008. However, before it made her current album, Gazza B and co cleared the sample - while also politely declining to contribute to the track - and duly receive credit as co-writers. All good? Super, in that case, let's get on with discussing the song.

Well, quite simply, this is one of the loveliest things to which Lily Allen's put her name. Less simply, but more precisely, it's a warm 'n' fuzzy electro-tinged ballad about being pleasantly surprised at the progress of your new relationship. "Even though it's moving forward," she explains crisply, "There's just the right amount of awkward." Allen's vocals are gorgeously intimate throughout, her lyrics squeeze in a neat reference to A Place In The Sun and, well, if she did have to nick a chorus, there's no denying that she picked a goodun.

She blatantly stole the chorus from Take That (Let It Shine), she can't sing and she has a weak voice and what's with the video :/ 1/5

I think this was the wrong choice for single, but no more so than 22 was to be brutally honest. Would have liked to see I Could Say, Chinese and Everyone's At It released instead of those 2 singles. This one is nice enough, but too bland to be a single, and I won't be surprised if it flops. I just hope it makes the top 40 for her!

Liilian Alleyn is truly a younge man to marvel at. I hope to heare many more ballades that infpire my vessel to lullay and gambol in fuch a manner. Even though she nicked the tune from Take That.

This is quite possibly one of my favourite Lily Allen song, along with Littlest Things and 22, it shows off her voice, her more sensitive musical side, and the Brit-pop style I really appreciate! Well done Lily, and thanks to TA for not being mean about the chorus XD

This is Lily's best song by far! I love it <3 Not that I'm bothered by it at all but which Take That song is the chorus from? I can't figure it; anyone? Love the song though and is that really Elton John in the video?!!

I love this song! It is by far my favourite from "It's Not Me, It's You". Always has been and always will be. Just the perfect, most lovely song!

I love the synth break near the end! I'm surprised that she hasn't released "Everyone's at it".
