Sir Terry Wogan, Aled Jones, Sharon Corr: 'Silver Bells'/'Me And My Teddy Bear'
Around this time of year, you'll often hear folk bemoaning the lack of a traditional Christmas number. "The X Factor has ruined our once great tradition," they whinge nostalgically. However, what people tend to forget is that nine out of ten Christmas songs are about as enjoyable as being force-fed a month-old plate of your Aunt Nelly's stuffing. For every Slade or Wizzard chestnut, there's at least a dozen novelty misfires packed with tacky sleigh bells and corny "ho-ho-ho" effects.

Terry Wogan and Aled Jones's latest seasonal collaboration is proof, if any were needed, that reality TV's reign over the yuletide charts isn't such a bad thing. Of course, it's all for a good cause, but you're better off donating to Children In Need direct than shelling out to hear Tog warble about silver bells going "ring-a-ling" and the like. As for Sharon Corr's throwaway ode to Pudsey Bear on the flipside... the less said, the better.
