N-Dubz: 'Say It's Over'

A reality show, a book and even some dollies - who'd have thought that N-Dubz would become so, well, merchandised? In just two years, their meteoric rise "from street life to chart life" - as their biog so neatly puts it - is staggering. Now, after scoring the biggest hits of their career with 'I Need You' and 'Playing With Fire', they're continuing their onward march with a third release from their Against All Odds LP.

Unfortunately, much of the N-Dubz charm is lost on this track. It finds the Camden trio grappling with the difficulties of a dying relationship, but it's hard to sympathise when Dappy starts spitting out lines like: "I'm doing you a favour / I've had enough of f**king girls and coming back to you later." The verses are rescued by the seamless combination of mournful strings and thudding garage beats, but the chorus lacks the irresistible hookiness that's central to N-Dubz's ever-expanding empire.
