The synthy backing is sharp and bouncy enough to sound bang-up-to-date, but it's also classy as hell, saving Houston from even the slightest hint of the granny-in-a-short-skirt indignity that some futurepop-chasing veterans have faced. Instead, we get a fabulous melody and nu-Whitney's still more-than-capable voice twisting around some fine lyrics about havin' nothin' but love for all - family, teachers, lovers and exes alike ("For anyone who tried to hate on me / Even the ones who tried to break me / Even the ones who tried to take me down"). If anything, her now slightly-husky tones lend more passion and feeling than the flawless soaring of her heyday. A modern Whitney classic.
