In the world of pop, it's a well-known fact that when the chips are down, your safest bet is to sample an '80s classic. East Londoner Professor Green - known to his mates at Stephen Masterson - faltered at the start of his rap career, failing to dent the charts with his debut album or any of its spin-off singles. Fortunately, the Prof's now managed to rescue himself from obscurity by borrowing a big old chunk of INXS's 1987 smash 'Need You Tonight'.

Over that riff, Green relates a tale of romantic frustration, as his favourite lass drives him dulally by playing hard to get. His distinctive cockney rapping style and ear-snagging rhymes ("This lady is driving me crazy / She blows hot and cold like the AC") are complimented by the catchy chorus, crooned by newcomer and recent Virgin signing Ed Drewett. The result? A hit with enough personality to justify its hefty-as-a-hungry-hippo sample.
