Lee Ryan: 'Secret Love'

Well, this is all a bit unexpected, isn't it? After Lee Ryan's last single, 2007's 'Reinforce Love', stalled outside the top 100, he insisted that his music days were behind him. Consequently, it comes as something of a surprise to find the former Blue crooner – whose most notable recent success came on a celebrity edition of Come Dine With Me - back on the new release slates.

Even more surprisingly, 'Secret Love' sees him ditch his usual midtempo fare in favour of clinical techno-pop beats – a shame given that he's one of the few British male popstars who can really bash out a ballad. Sadly, his normally distinctive vocals get lost amidst the slightly dated production, though fans will be gratified when his trademark howl makes a brief appearance slap bang in the middle. With solo material of this calibre, Lee better hope that Dunc, Si and Ant are feeling like team players again.
