Goldfrapp: 'Alive'

There are many ways to deal with a cheating lover, but it seems packing them off into space on last single 'Rocket' was just the ticket for Alison Goldfrapp. Here she returns sounding fresh, rejuvenated and smitten over a new love - without the merest hint of bitterness about past relationship woes.

Beginning with a piano riff reminiscent of vintage Elton, 'Alive' builds towards a fantastic arms-in-the-air chorus on which Goldfrapp proclaims "I'm feeling alive again" over gorgeously warm 80s-style synths. Later on she admits "Can't stop thinking about you baby / You don't know we are the real deal", making clear this is no mere rebound fling, but a new romance to get properly excited about. Good on ya girl!
