JLS: 'The Club Is Alive'

Credit where it's due and all that. The JLS boys are only on their second album, but they're being brave enough to trail with what is undeniably one of those Love It Or Hate It-type tracks. The dispute? An inescapable sample from The Sound Of Music that in years to come will either be heralded for its musical genius... or blocked from memory like that time you caught your parents making the beast with two backs after a boozey summer BBQ.

"The club is alive with the sound of music," the boys chant over a hotbed of pulsating rave-tinged beats, bleeps and whooshes and a robotic sound that can only be described as yodelling for 2010. The lyrics ("You can be the DJ, I can be the dance floor") are what we've come expect from the band, albeit with the odd "shawty" thrown in, but whatever you think of that sample, it's hard to avoid the conclusion that JLS have passed every X Factor judge's favourite test here. They've managed to Successfully Step Outside Their Comfort Zone.
