3OH!3 ft. Ke$ha: 'First Kiss'

First things first - the sort of pop song that makes an excellent playground chant is often an excellent pop song full-stop. Think Avril Lavigne's 'Girlfriend' or Katy Perry's 'Hot N Cold'. However, where those artists merely dabbled, 3OH!3 appear to be building a career on the tactic. 'First Kiss', the lead single from their upcoming Streets Of Gold album, is another shouty electro-hop nugget that's as rowdy and intimidating the school bully after a can of Red Bull.

"My first kiss went a little like this," the duo holler over ear-splitting hand-claps, followed by the inevitable "kissy kissy" noise. The lyrics are littered with-pre pubescent references to panties and licorice-flavoured lips, so Ke$ha's the perfect choice to throw in her two cents on the matter, but where she sounds cheeky (and a tad tipsy), the boys are simply irritating. Violence isn't supposed to be the way to deal with the peskiest kids in the playground, but in this case it feels necessary.
