The Wanted: 'All Time Low'

You've heard of The Wanted, right? No? Well, as long as you're over 18 and a bit of a Twitterphobe, we'll forgive you. James, Max, Nathan, Siva and Tom have been doing the promo rounds for a few months now - radio tours, school gigs and the like - and boyband aficionados may recognise Max from Avenue (R.I.P.) or perhaps his cheeky AXM shoot from a couple of years back.

Anyway, even though The Wanted clearly fulfil the boyband archetype - five good-looking guys who can hold a few notes together - this debut single is actually a bit of a surprise. The opening strings are quite simply immense.... the lyrics slightly less so. "When I'm standing on the yellow line / Waiting at the station / Or I'm late for work / A vital presentation" has to be heard several times to be believed. However, even a howler like that can't spoil this fresh 'n' fizzy indie-tinged pop gem. It's too soon to tell whether The Wanted will have JLS cranking up their ab sets in fear, but for now they can celebrate the fact that one of them has just stolen Sophie Ellis-Bextor's Best Cheekbones In Pop crown. Nice work, Siva!
