Eminem ft. Rihanna: 'Love The Way You Lie'

Eminem didn't call his current album Recovery for nothing. After the relative floppage of last year's comeback LP, Relapse, the biggest-selling rapper of all time - 80m units shifted and counting, stats fans - was clearly desperate to regain his position at the top of the hip-hop tree (A woody perennial, we imagine, with Cristal for sap and leaves lacquered with 24 carat gold.)

To that end he assembled a battalion of trendy beatsmiths, lined up high-profile hooks-up with the likes of Pink and Lil Wayne, and, most significantly of all, rediscovered his ability to mix the controversial and the commercial. The latter is best exemplified by this latest single, on which Em welds brutal raps about his violently disfunctional relationship with ex-wife Kim to a catchy-as-crabs chorus crooned by the the most famous victim of domestic abuse in the world. Pretty sharp, huh? Well, as we said, he didn't call that album Recovery for nothing.
