Sia: 'Clap Your Hands'

We're always onto a winner with Sia. Not only does the Aussie songstress have a rare flair for melody, but she's also got a habit of snagging our attention with an eccentric video or some intriguing artwork. After her 2008 breakthrough album, Some People Have Real Problems, led to studio time with a certain Dirrty lady, she's now back with another of her own quirky-yet-sophisticated pop treats.

Over modishly 80s synths and fabulously funky beats courtesy of Kylie/Lily collaborator Greg Kurstin, Sia admits she's been "neglecting the good things" and needs to be shaken out of her misery. The remedy? Why, a bit of good old-fashioned hand-clapping, of course! If the verses don't immediately captivate you, then the chorus surely will, being roughly as easy to resist as a come hither glance from George Clooney/Angelina Jolie (delete as appropriate). This may not be a work of lyrical genius, but as far as songs about patting palms go, it's right up there with that old Shirley Ellis / Belle Stars classic.
