One Night Only: 'Say You Don't Want It'

Reports of the death of the harsh-but-fairly titled "landfill indie" genre have been greatly exaggerated. For every record exec casting a worried eye over poor second album sales, there's another racking up a line with glee as their lads with guitars scale the upper reaches of the chart once more. Burberry model and One Night Only frontman George Craig probably isn't worrying the bods in the Mercury offices too much, because this trailer for their upcoming self-titled second album - and the Emma Watson-featuring video - will likely keep the whole team in champers until at least the end of the summer.

Sounding unnervingly like equal parts Pet Shop Boys and mid-'90s Britpop, 'Say You Don't Want It' is a bit catchy, a bit bouncy, a bit of everything, without actually being much of anything. The teenage lyrics are, of course, awful ("The big screens, the plastic-made dreams / Say you don't want it"), but not bad enough to really offend or entertain. It would be oh-so easy for ugly ageing reviewers to poke fun at the band's ridiculously boyish good looks and film star girlfriends, but that would probably be a bit unfair as well, so we'll desist. So, ultimately, perfect wallpaper for radio - there's very little to get excited/upset about here.
