Orianthi 'According To You'
Let's get one thing straight from the start - there's nothing remotely cool about this single. It's an old-fashioned pop/rock stomper with nary a synth in earshot. It's got widdly-widdly guitar solos that make our fingers feel arthritic just listening to them. And the chorus comes on with all the subtlety of Christopher Biggins arriving to meet Joan Collins at Claridge's cocktail bar.

But - and it's a big but - it's also a bloody great Burger King whopper of a tune, the sort of thing we'd call a guilty pleasure if we believed pop music should ever come with a side order of shame. Greek-Aussie singer-songwriter-axesmith Orianthi Panagaris attacks the oh-so-straightforward lyrics with gusto, while also handling those solos like the secret lovechild of Slash and Lita Ford, which is precisely why the Bliges, Lamberts and Jackson (R.I.P.)s of this world have seen fit to seek her out.

I've loved this song for so long; I'm so glad it's been recognised and I hope it gets a good place in the chart. Orianthi is a very talented artist. Well done!

I remember the days when DS wouldn't give every second song it reviewed 5 stars.

Meh..I think the song's..ok...I don't think it deserves 5 stars though..the guitar solo in the middle makes it sound like it's trying too hard to be a proper rock song..it's pop rock that's trying too hard.
