Christina Aguilera: 'You Lost Me'

We're just going to come out and say it - things aren't going that well for Christina Aguilera. After her ballsy comeback, 'Not Myself Tonight', stalled at number 12, its parent LP suffered the slight indignity of being awarded lowest seven-day sales figures for a No.1 album in UK chart history. Ouch. Remember though folks, this is the same Xtina who once told us to get down and Dirrty, that we're Beautiful no matter what they say, and, crucially, that she's a Fighter - and the odd setbacks like that can't hold her down.

To that end, she's changed tack for her new single, recruiting Aussie chanteuse Sia to write her a melodramatic ballad about a no good cheating sod who's left her world "infected". Backed by little more than strings and piano, Aggie's free here to smoulder, wail and belt like the true diva she is, but her performance somehow lacks the sincerity she displayed on 'Hurt' or 'Oh Mother' - the very sincerity, of course, that has often given her the edge over her chart rivals. Still, we're confident she'll return to boffo form soon enough - this is Christina Aguilera, after all.
