Enrique Iglesias ft. Nicole Scherzinger: 'Heartbeat'

It's been more than a decade since Enrique Iglesias made his international breakthrough with 'Bailamos' - and this latest single has just become his 14th UK top 20 hit. Never the greatest singer or dancer, nor much of a musical innovator, it's tempting to ask, 'Just what's his secret?'

Well, 'Heartbeat' certainly offers two or three clues. He's had a little bit of luck in securing the myriad talents of Nicole Scherzinger just as she's become hot as Krakatoa circa 1883. As ever, Quique and his co-writers - Mark 'Hero' Taylor and Jamie 'And The Town' Scott -haven't skimped in the chorus department. Oh, and of course the whole thing - the beats that mimic the pulse of a pounding chest, the simple-but-effective piano hook, the lyrics about "stealing your heart away" - is as cheesy as the chi-chi Manchego Anna picks up from the farmer's market every time Ma and Pa Iglesias are due for dinner. Yum.
