The Ting Tings 'Hands'
Partly because of the ubiquity of 'That's Not My Name', 'Great DJ' and the rest, partly because of the whole Islington Mill "artist's commune" thing, and partly because of Katie White's smooth-as-roadbumps vocal technique, The Ting Tings got on a lot of peoples' t*ts first time out. Lots of others, however, were sold by their pop smarts, with the duo's debut album We Started Nothing topping the charts on its way to double-platinum status.

Truth be told, this trailer for the upcoming follow-up is unlikely to make many revise their opinions. White remains as, ahem, "distinctive" as ever, but 'Hands' succeeds in adding an extra layer of electropop gloss to their sound without sacricing the hooks, danceability and sheer energy that always buoys their best moments. Our take? Well, let's just say that every time KW commands, "Clap your hands if you're working too hard," our story turnover rate slows right down. Hmm... can anyone teach us to type with our feet?
