Ke$ha: 'We R Who We R'

We've given Ke$ha a hard time in the past - her boozy antics on 'Tik Tok', the panty-less dancing with strange fellas in 'Blah Blah Blah', those vocals ("more processed than a Cheestring") on 'Take It Off'... they've all come under harsh scrutiny from DS scribes. That said, we've never disputed that she carries it all off in a fashion that's frank, fearless and unashamedly fun.

This latest single trails the reissue of her debut LP and essentially brings anyone still outside the K-loop up-to-speed. With its bouncy Dr Luke beats and her usual bubblegum melodies, it should be Ke$ha-by-numbers, but thanks to a chorus that's as meaty and addictive as a Big Mac, it could actually be her poppermost effort to date. Regardless, given the world she creates here - where the whole town's a club, the kids look "sick and sexified" and anyone who wants to be is a superstar - we're happy to accept Ke$ha for whoever, whatever she is.
