Nelly Furtado: 'Night Is Young'

As her stellar Best Of set attests, Nelly Furtado's decade-long recording career has been as eclectic as a secret cross-dresser's wardrobe, taking in everything from politically-minded folk-pop to Spanish-language soft rock to era-defining electro-R&B. Well, who else could pull off collaborations with James Morrison, Justin Timberlake and Josh Groban?

And she's not ready to calm her passions yet. 'Night Is Young', one of three newbies anchoring said Best Of, finds Furtado doing things the Paula Abdul way and servicing us with a straight up slab of feelgood dance-pop. It's actually one of the most conventional things she's committed to mp3, but thanks to her ever-distinctive vocals and a chorus as stealthily catchy as a self-mutating virus, 'Night Is Young' becomes more persuasive with each spin.
