Chromeo ft. Elly Jackson: 'Hot Mess'

They say it takes just seven seconds to make a first impression - and while there are plenty of us prone to embarrassing mishaps in a meet 'n' greet situation, spare a thought for those who have to do it via the medium of a catchy pop tune. Rather impressively, then, Chromeo absolutely nail this tricky feat on their breakthrough release.

Having greeted us with precisely that many seconds of friendly, toe-tappable pop, the Canadian knob-twiddlers then launch into a chunky slice of 80s-style electro-funk with a groove as irresistible as Angelina's lips. In fact, by the time La Roux's Elly Jackson interrupts with her glassy, 'don't give a flying duck' response to the boys' relationship woes, we're already fully on side… and thinking it might be time for us to hone our own ability to keep-eye-contact-while-giving-a-good-firm-handshake.
