Chris Brown: 'Yeah 3x'

Imagine, if you will, a machine that could knock out perfect pop songs the way the Kipling factory knocks out perfect apple pies. Select your tempo, choose a theme, set the desired number of choruses, don't forget to request a middle 8, opt for a fade out if you want one… and bingo, top of the pops every time!

Well, Cathy Dennis needn't book an appointment at the Adult Re-Education centre just yet, but US knob-twiddler DJ Frank E does seem to have invented a more rudimentary contraption that, when fed elements of several recent chart hits, churns them all up, gives them a good old stir and spews out a not ineffectual bastard hybrid. For this test run, he's chucked in some Usher, plenty of Taio, a few scraps of Jay Sean, a bit of Black Eyed Peas and, because he's a crazy one, a splish-splosh-splash of Calvin Harris … thereby creating 'Yeah 3x!' (Chris Brown, for his part, does what's required of him very well.)
