Barbarellas - 'Body Rock' (Artwork)
Whatever happened to a little thing called respect? Honestly, you spend a good couple of years climbing the pop tree before your label unexpectedly chops off the last branch to which you can cling, one of you goes on to write some perfectly decent girlband album tracks, and then, a decade or so down the line, you rock up for a second crack at the charts. Open arms? Nope. Instead, one of the Daily Fail's harem of sister-hating hackettes labels you "cheap Lady GaGas".

That's the fate that's befallen Barbarellas - a.k.a. Edele and Keavy from B*Witched - as they release this debut single in their new guise as a Fonda flick-inspired pop duo. Thing is, the track itself is actually a bit of a blast. Yes, it's got a whiff of the Rachel Stevens-circa-2002 about it - Eau De Jeremy Edwards perhaps? - but as anyone who cherishes their copy of Come And Get It will know, that's no bad thing. Produced by Yoad Nevo (Jem, Sophie-Ellis-Bextor, Pet Shop Boys), 'Body Rock' is a sassy little electropop number with ever-so-slightly titillating lyrics, ear-snagging flamenco guitar riffs and a chorus that's got more to it than you initially think. And that article? Oh ladies, you've been around the showbiz block enough to know just to shrug your shoulders and say, 'C'est la vie'.
