Hurts: 'Sunday'

"There are times when we question the things we know," begins Theo Hutchcraft on the new Hurts single, letting us know from the get-go that 'Sunday' most certainly isn't about chowing down your mother's roast chicken before slumping on the sofa in front of The Antiques Road Show.

Instead, it's a typically melodramatic Hurtsian ode to The One That Got Away, with Hutchcraft's yearning vocals flanked by pumping beats, pulsating synths and staccato strings in a PSB-meets-Killers kind of way. Epic in its execution, and affecting in its theatrics, it's yet another Hurts nugget that makes us look as the duo's Europe-wide sales figures and think, 'Are British listeners hearing something different to their fans on the continent?'
