Katy Perry ft. Kanye West: 'E.T.'

We've long had a niggling suspicion that Katy Perry isn't quite of this earth, partly because she's ludicrously hot, and partly because she wore that sodding blue wig for so long that we started to suspect it might actually be real! Nonetheless, KP is convinced on her latest chart-botherer that the strange one is, in fact, her fella - hardly complimentary to poor old Russ, right?

Wrong. "You're so supersonic / Wanna feel your powers / Stun me your lasers," she insists here - and her lusty demands don't end there. "Infect me with your love and fill me with your poison," she continues while behind her Dr Luke and Max Martin supply glitchy beats, space age synths and a chorus fit for Mars's equivalent of Madison Square Garden. Kanye's contribution is, of course, entirely needless, but this is still a quirky and assured slice of state-of-the-art pop. That's four in a row now, right?
